What kind of church is Christ the King?
Christ the King is a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, with deep roots in the Newbury Park community. We seek to draw people into an ever-deepening relationship with God and one another in the body of Christ. Our worship is alive in the Spirit, full of praise through band, song, and drama, and our teaching is relevant to today’s world. We’re inspired knowing God’s Word is applicable to our lives, and we are active in demonstrating Christ’s love through mission and service. That’s why, at Christ the King, we strive to Love God, Love People, and Serve the Community. We invite you to come worship with us!
When are worship services?
We have two service times 8:30 and 10:30 with an adult Bible Study in
the middle at 9:40. Greeters and ushers will meet you at the entrance to
answer questions and give you a bulletin.
What are the service styles?
8:30 AM Traditional Service:
This Sunday morning service is a traditional service with a vibrant and majestic celebration of worship. The atmosphere is joyful yet reverent, inviting participation through singing, Scripture reading, and prayer. Our musical style for this service draws upon the church’s rich musical heritage with great hymns of the faith.
10:30 AM Praise Service:
This Sunday morning service is a contemporary service filled with praise and dynamic worship with our Praise Band and team of singers. The vibrant, upbeat atmosphere encourages participation in many ways—through energetic singing and expressive prayer. Children are escorted to Children's Church in the preschool building following the Children's Message in the adult service and are brought back to the sanctuary at the end of service.
No matter which service you choose, you’ll find that Christ the King's worship is a catalyst for connecting with God and communing with Him in a growing love relationship that transforms lives. The spoken message brought each Sunday is Bible-centered, inspirational, and completely relevant to real life. It is presented to the congregation in easy-to-understand language, yet never watered down. The music and celebration reflect our diversity of styles and our unity of spirit. Each Sunday, people leave Christ the King with a true sense of spiritual
refreshment and renewal.
